Magen David Adom USA

I learned yesterday that Magen David Adom USA will be merging with American Red Magen David for Israel. You can see more about this at the Magen David Adom website.
What is interesting about this is that we have two nonprofit organizations with the same mission — in this case raising money for Israel’s version of the Red Cross — and they are merging. It’s a rare occurrence. Usually, egos and competitive natures get in the way. Anytime we see two organizations getting together, reducing their overhead, taking the best of both organizations and joining forces, this is something to celebrate.
My friend Gary Kenzer, who was the co-ED of Magen David Adom USA is moving on to become the first National Executive Director for the One Family Fund, an organization that helps victims of terror in Israel.
